Frameless cabinetry, or Full Access cabinetry, is often identified with European design and is constructed without face frames. This construction method creates minimal space between the doors and drawers by mounting them directly to the cabinet case which adds a least 10% more usable space inside the cabinet. Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL), once known as Thermally Fused Melamine or TFM, is made by fusing resin saturated sheets of decorative paper directly to a substrate. High heat and pressure activate the resin in the saturated TFL panel, creating a cross-linked bond with the substrate. This effectively seals the substrate. The result is cabinetry with a durable surface that resists chipping or wear and tear better than a painted or stained surface.
TFL is an attractive option because of its value, moisture resistance, durability and low maintenance qualities.
3DL, or 3D Laminates, are decorative film overlays that are also known as Rigis Thermofoils (RTF). like TFL’s (Thermally Fused Laminates), 3DL’s provide the freedom to design decorative surface components with contoured surface profiles and seamless edges without requiring edge treatments after lamination. These decorative surface films are available in sold colors or printed designs. The films used in 3D Laminates are thermoplastic, which means they become pliable when heated and are pressed to take on the shape of the substrate (hence the name 3D), and return to a firm state when sufficiently cooled.
