3DL, or 3D Laminates, are decorative film overlays that are also known as Rigis Thermofoils (RTF). like TFL’s (Thermally Fused Laminates), 3DL’s provide the freedom to design decorative surface components with contoured surface profiles and seamless edges without requiring edge treatments after lamination. These decorative surface films are available in sold colors or printed designs. The films used in 3D Laminates are thermoplastic, which means they become pliable when heated and are pressed to take on the shape of the substrate (hence the name 3D), and return to a firm state when sufficiently cooled.
The backside of any 3DL door or component is always TFL material. The available 3DL face colors match with the TFL colors on the backs of the doors in color but not in texture. 3DL is an attractive option because of its value, moisture resistance, durability and low maintenance qualities.
